The Phoenix Nest!
A new store that will help support my cancer journey!
So, people asked me what I was going to do while off work with limited income. And a lot of people suggested GoFundme, which is good, but I’ve never had luck. Instead, I decided to put up a new store that sells various swag boxes and book boxes. There will be digital content as well, but I’ve got to finish creating all of that first. I know that I will be posting a video blog soon, so stay tuned for that.
I’d appreciate everyone sharing if they can. I’m going to find out Tuesday if chemo is in my future or not, but from what I saw online, it’s common when the capsule (the tumor) ruptures during surgery, and according to pathology, mine did. That’ll be more time off work, though that will be spaced out.
I may be out another two weeks until the end of January; depends on what the doctor tells me Tuesday. Considering the place I work, it’s pretty likely she won’t want me going back yet. There is a real likelihood of getting into a violent altercation, so there’s that.
The good news is that the pathology report (from my reading of it) seems to say that the cancer was contained to my ovary, and other than the capsule rupturing, everything else was clear. I swear, they took stuff out of me I’d never heard of. Uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, pelvic lymph nodes, something called an omentum.
In case you’re wondering: “The omentum is a large, fatty fold of the peritoneum (abdominal lining) that drapes over the abdominal organs, acting like an "apron" to protect them and house immune cells, with the major parts being the greater omentum (hanging from the stomach) and the lesser omentum (connecting stomach to liver). It serves vital roles in immunity, fat storage (as visceral fat), and tissue repair, and it can also be involved in the spread of certain cancers or conditions like omentum infarction.”
Never knew that even existed. *shrugs
Anyway, that’s both an update and a request for folks to see if they could check out the shop. Shipping on everything is $5 for a box. Multiple boxes will be multiple charges.
