The Journey Takes Off From here
The new year brings with it more challenges.
Surgery happened yesterday. I went in hopeful, and I am still hopeful, because it isn’t over like I had hoped.
It was a cancerous tumor. I don’t know what stage or type of tumor yet, but the doctor is pretty much sure it started in the ovary and didn’t spread from somewhere else. She didn’t see any indications that it had spread anywhere else, so at this time it looks like the cancer has been fully removed.
Of course, it doesn’t end there. Generally, even after removal, chemo is necessary to kill off any remaining cancer cells. After that, they generally prescribe a maintenance drug for long-term use to prevent recurrence.
Like I said, I’m hopeful. I believe they got everything out, and removed all the other reproductive bits. I’m sore as hell, and on hydrocodone, but eventually the pain will fade. I’m not looking forward to chemo, but I’ll do what has to be done.
I want to thank everyone for their support and keeping up with me on this journey. It will be ongoing for a while. I’ll be doing posts as we go forward for health as well as regular newsletter selections.
Much love,
Bev
